Families Can Be Complicated
A Long Island couple has just married . . . the second time for both. What they expected to be a time of great happiness, however, is proving to be a rather stressful life passage. They struggle with issues surrounding ex-spouses, resentful stepchildren, creating a blended family, managing money . . . it is proving challenging to build a rewarding life together. Things become so bad that their marriage is in jeopardy. They realize they won’t be able to make it together unless they get help. They call Community Counseling and Education Services, which has worked with Long Island residents for more than 80 years.
The Process
Episcopal Community Service’s Community Counseling and Education Services offer for-pay therapy, accepting insurance and charging a sliding scale based on income. Their counseling services are available for:
- individuals
- couples
- couples in second marriages
- children
- families
and they also provide:
- psychological evaluation, psychiatric evaluation, and neurological evaluation through program consultants
Typically adults seek counseling either to deal with problems affecting their day-to-day functioning or when they are overwhelmed by major life changes. The program also serves children experiencing behavioral problem and conflict at home or in school, and teens struggling with peer and parental relationships.
The Goal:
Providing quality talk therapy to people in need of help.
